Accessible vs UserWay

UserWay's core product is its Accessibility Widget, which applies automated fixes and visitor personalization at runtime (the kind of tool commonly called an overlay), with monitoring, audits and VPATs available alongside. Accessible doesn't change your pages: on paid plans it scans every URL, runs a simulated screen-reader user through your key tasks, and monitors the barriers real visitors meet, so your team can fix them in code. UserWay says its parent company is Level Access [1].

Last reviewed October 18, 2026. Every statement about UserWay comes from UserWay's own website on that date, except where we cite the Overlay Fact Sheet, all linked under Sources. If something has changed, tell us at support@accessible.so and we'll correct it.

The short version

UserWay's Accessibility Widget uses what UserWay calls Automated Remediation Technology to "automatically and continuously fix many common accessibility issues directly within your website or application in real time, with in-platform insight on applied remediations, supported by human-in-the-loop oversight," plus "100+ user personalization tools" for visitors [2]. Widget plans include monitoring of a set number of pages; audits and VPATs are add-ons, and annual plans include a Litigation Support Program [2].

Accessible is a diagnostic. On paid plans it scans every URL on the domain with axe-core, tests whole tasks such as sign-in and checkout with a simulated screen-reader user, and monitors real sessions. Its monitoring script only reads your pages and never changes them, and every fix lands in your code.

When UserWay may be the better fit

  • You want a visitor-facing personalization widget and value that more than code-level testing. Accessible doesn't offer one.
  • You want live site translation in the same product. UserWay's Pro Plus lists translation into 50+ languages [2].
  • You want expert manual audits and VPATs from the same vendor. UserWay offers both as add-ons [2]. Accessible's VPAT/ACR is a draft from your own test evidence, and it doesn't offer human audits.

When Accessible is the better fit

  • You want every page checked without buying page tiers. Paid plans scan every URL on the domain with no page cap.
  • You need to know whether a task can be finished. Journeys test sign-in, search and checkout the way a screen-reader user would.
  • You want fixes in your own code, where they work for every visitor and every assistive technology, and you want a dated record of the work.

Frequently asked questions

Is UserWay an overlay?

UserWay's widget applies automated remediation within your website at runtime and adds personalization tools for visitors [2], the kind of tool commonly called an overlay. The Overlay Fact Sheet lists UserWay among overlay products [3]. UserWay also sells monitoring, audits and VPATs separately [2].

Does Accessible offer a widget like UserWay's?

No. Accessible never changes your pages; its monitoring script only reads them. Visitors use their own browser and assistive-technology settings, and fixes are made in your code.

Can I use Accessible to test a site that runs UserWay?

Yes. To see what your own code does, test with the widget turned off. With it on, results from real sessions would include the widget's runtime changes.

Will either product make my site compliant?

No tool can certify compliance. Accessible finds and documents barriers so you can fix them, and keeps a dated record of the work.

Test your pages, then your key tasks.

Monitor one domain free, with no card. Add scanning and screen-reader journeys when you want the whole record.
